At a Christie’s jewelry auction in Hong Kong, a set of earrings with yellow diamonds sold for HKD 62 million ($8 million), making it the top seller.

The set, which is named The Oriental Sunrise, includes white diamonds and two oval mixed-cut fancy-vivid-orange-yellow diamonds, one weighing 12.20 carats and the other 11.96. Its presale range was occupied by the final sale price. Christie’s said on Wednesday that the Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels sale on October 29 brought in HKD 466.8 million ($60.1 million).

Numerous goods from lots outside of the top ten sold for significantly more than they had anticipated, with some selling for up to twice or three times their top price. Among them was a set of diamond and jadeite earrings that, despite a lower estimate, brought in HKD 5.2 million ($664,860).

Ronny Hsu, head of jewelry sales at Christie’s Hong Kong, stated that a colored-diamond ring that was valued at up to HKD 80 million ($10 million) “was withdrawn due to a strategic decision made by our specialists to adjust the offerings for the sale.” Trilliant-cut white diamonds flanked a marquise brilliant-cut, 5.02-carat, fancy-deep-blue, internally flawless diamond center stone.
