We would like to draw your attention to this notable lot: Van Cleef & Arpels. A Superb Emerald and Diamond Ring which was previously part of Ava Gardner’s jewelry collection.

Ava Gardner possessed an exquisite assortment of signed jewels from the 1950s and 1960s by William Ruser and Van Cleef & Arpels in her jewelry collection. She took great satisfaction in selecting and buying the majority of her jewelry herself. She recounted how, in 1961, Van Cleef & Arpels New York hung a stunning 7.46-carat emerald that she had purchased in Los Angeles. Gardner made the decision to sell some diamonds at Sotheby’s New York in 1989.

The remainder of her collection, which included one of her obvious favorites, this magnificent emerald and diamond ring, was put up for auction at Sotheby’s London after her passing the following year.
